Reef Keeping System (RKS) is an innovative coral care system from the German company Modern Reef, specialized in the maintenance of marine aquariums, which combines a scientific approach with practical experience from its coral farm Euro Corals. Their philosophy is focused on creating a stable and natural environment for reef dwellers in closed systems.

The method is characterized by 4 key marks:

1. Proportional dosing (Equal Parts)

This is the most characteristic feature - the four main components (Base KH1, KH2, CAL, MAG) are dosed in exactly equal amounts. The system is designed that way, that the user only monitors the alkalinity level (KH), and all other elements are automatically maintained in the correct proportion to the coral's consumption.

2. Complete composition in one system

Unlike standard Balling methods, RKS is not just a source of calcium and alkalinity. It contains:

• All essential macronutrients and trace elements, found in natural seawater.
• Amino acids and organic micronutrients, which eliminates the need for additional color and growth supplements from other manufacturers

3. Focus on specific pigments

The formula is specially designed to stimulate the most difficult to achieve colors in the hobby - yellow and orange, while improving red saturation, pink, blue and purple.

4. Biological and environmental benefits

• Pest control: The system creates an environment, which is more resistant to cyanobacteria and dinoflagellates.
• Improvement of filtration: Stimulates the development of mushrooms (sponges) and ascidians (sea squirts), which help clarify the water.
• Purity: Does not contain nitrates (NO3) or phosphates (PO4) and helps reduce their excess levels in the aquarium

• 4-component system: The kit includes four ready-to-use solutions: Base KH1, Base KH2, Base CAL and Base MAG.
• Full lineup: Contains all the essential elements of natural sea water, including organic and inorganic micronutrients.
• Stimulation of pigmentation: Specially formulated to highlight hard-to-achieve yellow and orange colors, phosphorescent effect of pigmentation, as well as to enhance the reds, the blue and purple hues in corals.
• Eliminates the need for supplements: When using RKS, it is not necessary to add individual amino acids or trace elements for coloring.

Dosing and setting instructions

The system is designed for easy maintenance, with the main focus being on maintaining stable KH levels.

1. Initial dose: Start with 2.5 – 5 ml на 100 liters daily of each of the four components.
2. Equal parts: Always dispense an equal amount from the four bottles.
3. Adjustment according to KH: Adjust the dose like this, that you maintain levels of KH between 7.2 and 8.5 dKH.
4. Synchronization with Calcium: During the first 2 monitor calcium levels for weeks. If Ca falls, while KH is stable, increase the total dose of all components, to find the "ideal" KH level for your aquarium (e.g. from 7.5 on 7.7 dKH), where calcium remains stable.
